Virginia Department of Environmental Quality
EVgo is proud to partner with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to develop the Drive Electric Virginia EV fast charging network. In August 2018, EVgo was awarded the contract by the DEQ to develop a statewide public fast-charging network under Drive Electric Virginia, the Commonwealth’s Appendix D Volkswagen settlement program. The Drive Electric Virginia network prioritizes DC fast chargers along heavily traveled roads and in areas that have high current and projected growing demand for EV charging. The network is designed to complement existing charging stations and other planned charging infrastructure deployments.
EVgo has already deployed chargers to the following regions, and is just getting started: Northern Virginia, Richmond, Norfolk - Newport News - Virginia Beach, Charlottesville, and the Roanoke - Christiansburg - Blacksburg area.
When the Drive Electric Virginia network is complete, approximately 95% of Virginians will be within 30 miles of an EV charger.
